The Florida Book

I am super, super late on the bandwagon, but...

Do you realize how awesome Shutterfly is?!

I've heard good things about it, the products and whatnot, but I hadn't really played with it much until recently. When I bought my newest computer at Best Buy, I got a code for a free 8x8 hardcover photo book. I had absolutely no idea what to do with it, so I almost let it expire. (I know, I know.)

Well, I got an email reminder about it, and decided to use some of my photos from my epic Florida adventure earlier this year to make a book.

And you guys, it is AWESOME.
I had SO much fun choosing the photos, picking the layouts, arranging everything just so.

I even have a nifty photo-book preview to share with you!
 It'll be at the bottom of the post, as it's making my formatting wonky.

Anyway, the book is gorgeous, and ended up costing me around $8 for shipping. Not bad at all.
I have another code I'm planning to use for a Christmas gift, I think. I can't wait to go through the process of making the book again.

I'm also excited about checking out some of the other projects that Shutterfly has available. If I find something interesting I'll be sure to share.

Winter Soldier Scarf & Semi-Pattern

Happy Friday! (And also Happy Pi Day, for those of you of the geeky persuasion!) This scarf began as one of those 'I want to make something for meeeeee' projects. I'd been buried under requests for things for others (which is nice, don't get me wrong), that it had been awhile since I was able to whip up something for myself. Valentine Crafts 2015 Roundup!

Happy Valentine's Day!  I seriously intended to post this long before now, but...well I forgot, okay? But hey, better late than never, am I right?  Right.  Moving on!  I decided to do a little something special for my friends this year, and I found an adorable idea on Pinterest . I decided I wanted to fancy mine up a bit more than what these were.  I snagged a heart outline from here , and then jazzed it up in Photoshop to add the color and text. All that was left then was to simply cut them out and paste them onto the socks! The brand I found had a cardboard topper, so it was perfect for what I had in mind. Aren't they adorable? I love how they turned out! And in case you want to use this idea for yourself, here's a printable version of the graphic I used!  To be honest, I can't remember what size I saved it as, but I'm thinking it's in the neighborhood of 2.5x3? Bofur Inspired Hat Pattern

 (Check out this handy dandy Pinterest ready graphic I made!) In The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, one of the dwarves (Bofur) wore this really, really awesome hat.  I fell in love with it, and decided to see if I could crochet my own version of it.  Well, first I scoured the internet, hoping for a pattern, and when I didn't find one THEN I decided to make my own.  And since I know there are others out there who would love to have this pattern, I'm posting it here!
