Woo hoo! It's time for another As Seen on Pinterest post!  This time, it was a cute little kids' craft to go along with the story of Moses and the Children of Israel being led through the wilderness by the pillar of cloud by day, and fire by night. It fit nicely into one of our Sunday School lessons this quarter, so we decided to give it a whirl! Here's the original pin: You'll need toilet paper tubes, construction paper, tissue paper (white and orange), scissors and tape. It's a pretty straightforward craft, really. Cut the construction paper to cover the tube and tape it down. Then cut a generous square of the tissue paper (one in each color) and use some tape to stick it to the insides of the tube. That part is a bit tricky, but with some finagling, it can be done! And that's it! Isn't it cute? The kiddos loved them too. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine asked if I'd like to come over and test out some hairstyles she'd found on Pinterest. I agreed, and it was then decided that we should cook something we'd seen on the site too, and make into a sort of 'Pinterest Party'.  We decided to make the Crescent Pizza Rolls as it seemed fun, easy and delicious. I'm not sure how many we actually ended up making, but I know we made a ton.   It was super easy too. We wrapped half a stick of mozzarella cheese with about three to four pepperonis in a crescent roll to make each one. The instructions didn't say to, but we sort of smooshed the crescent dough around the edges of the cheese so it wouldn't leak out and make a huge mess. I highly recommend doing this. I have a confession: I am terrible at styling hair. Really terrible. My repertoire usually consists of straight with the occasional headband thrown in, or a pony tail. There are a few variations here and there, but they are few and far between.  However, I recently decided that if I was going to have hair as long as I do, then I really should learn how to do something with it. So I began scouring Pinterest for some easy ideas to try out.  And that is where I discovered the Brilliant Braid! Here's the original pin (which I tried to embed, but apparently such things elude me. Apologies.). It looked simple enough, so I decided to give it a try. Here's my first attempt at it. Not too shabby, eh? And it's absolutely easy as pie, even for the styling-challenged like myself.  I did it a few times to get a better grasp of it, and I've found a bit of practice helps to 'fine tune' the process. One of my co-workers recently retired. I'm happy for her, because she really deserves it and everything...but I hate that she's leaving me!  I tried to bribe her into staying. I even threatened to lock her in the office and refuse to let her go.  Oddly, she didn't like that suggestion.  Since she was set on this notion of retirement, I immediately began scouring Pinterest for some sort of cute retirement gift for her. I knew I'd find something there, and I was not disappointed! Fairly soon after beginning my search, I came across the 'Retirement Survival Kit'.  (Photo from Pinterest - original pin link ) The pin was a link to an eBay auction, but of course my first thought on seeing it was "I can do that!". So I did.   I really should have taken a better photo of it. But this is all I managed to get. So, uh, ta da! I changed a few of the items around (the original link was from the UK, so some of the items weren't available)...

I have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest. I love that there are so many fabulous ideas in one place, and I can easily spend hours looking through pins, finding ideas and things I want to try.  However, a lot of times (especially with me), whenever I attempt a Pinterest craft, it fails. And it fails miserably.  I'm happy to report, then, that I recently tried an 'As Seen on Pinterest' - and it wasn't a fail! Read on, for more! :) This photo/craft that has been floating around on Pinterest for what seems like ages. It's for a ring holder, made out of a small photo frame, and it's absolutely adorable . The pin usually says 'would be great for wedding gift' or something along those lines. One day while browsing Pinterest, I came across an idea I found very intriguing. The basic idea is this: Every time something good happens, write it down on a slip of paper. Put the slips of paper in a jar. Then, on New Year's Eve, dump out all the papers and re-visit all the good things that happened to you throughout the year.  I thought it was a marvelous idea, and so I have decided to do it. Only with a few modifications.  I decided that for my jar, I'm going to write down at least one good thing per day. Of course, I might write more, but I figure if I write one each day I'll at least have 365 things to read at the end of the year.  And thus, I've dubbed the year of 2013 'The Year of Good Things', because that's the outlook and mindset I'm trying to get into. I need things to fill my jar, so I'm going to be looking for the good things in every day, no matter how small or how silly they might seem to be.   A good thing is a go...

Have you checked out Pinterest yet?    If you haven't you should, because it's pretty nifty. It has pretty much anything and everything you'd ever want/need/etc. Recipes, organizational tips, ideas and inspiration...it really does have it all. I love the different craft ideas and such I've found on there. (Here's the link for my boards , if you want to follow me!) Anyway, I recently saw a pin for something called a 'hair mask' . It only had two ingredients, and seemed easy enough, so I decided to give it a try.  Famous last words: "I saw it on Pinterest." Here's the ingredients. Olive oil and honey. That's it.  (and yes, the honey is upside down. That's just how I roll.)  Three tablespoons of the oil & one tablespoon of honey was what the instructions said.
