DIY Makeup Remover




I love DIY projects....most of the time. Sometimes, its more of a hassle to make it yourself than to just buy it, or just plain more expensive. So I love projects that are both cost effective AND easy.

I saw a video floating around Facebook of DIY makeup remover. I wasn't keen on the ingredients of that one, so I did some Google research, and found one that you can make with only three ingredients. Most of the recipes/instructions  I found were very generic, and so I ended up making my own blend, which is what I'm sharing here. The first batch I made ended up stinging my eyes, because it was too much soap and not enough water/oil. But this new batch is perfect!

Here's what you'll need: 

-Baby shampoo/wash
- Baby oil
- Water
- Cotton rounds 
- Jar with lid (forgot to put the lid in the photo, oops!)



I had the water on hand for a prior project, and also had the cotton round and jar already. So all in all, I spent about $7 for the other ingredients ($4 for the oil and $3 for the wash). Even if you had to buy the other ingredients, I'm pretty sure it would be $15 or less for it all. Plus it will make several batches, so it will be cheaper in the long run.

First, you stack cotton rounds into the jar until its full. I didn't count how many I had in there, I just stacked them until it reached the top.


Next, mix 1/2 tablespoon of the baby shampoo/wash, 1 tablespoon baby oil, and 3/4 cup of water in a bowl.


Once it's mixed, simply pour it into the jar over your cotton rounds.


The cotton rounds soak up a lot, but there will be some liquid in there too. After you use up all the cotton rounds that are in the jar, you can just stuff some more in and soak up what's left! I did that with my last batch, and it kept me from having to mix up anymore for a day or two. Laziness for the win!

Now for the big question - do these things ACTUALLY work? (I was skeptical at first too.) But the answer is this:


Heck YES they work!

These work just as good as any makeup remover I've ever bought (maybe just a tad bit better). It doesn't seem as harsh on my eyes either, which is always a good thing.

Winter Soldier Scarf & Semi-Pattern

Happy Friday! (And also Happy Pi Day, for those of you of the geeky persuasion!) This scarf began as one of those 'I want to make something for meeeeee' projects. I'd been buried under requests for things for others (which is nice, don't get me wrong), that it had been awhile since I was able to whip up something for myself. Valentine Crafts 2015 Roundup!

Happy Valentine's Day!  I seriously intended to post this long before now, but...well I forgot, okay? But hey, better late than never, am I right?  Right.  Moving on!  I decided to do a little something special for my friends this year, and I found an adorable idea on Pinterest . I decided I wanted to fancy mine up a bit more than what these were.  I snagged a heart outline from here , and then jazzed it up in Photoshop to add the color and text. All that was left then was to simply cut them out and paste them onto the socks! The brand I found had a cardboard topper, so it was perfect for what I had in mind. Aren't they adorable? I love how they turned out!
