DIY Refreshing Face Mist




A few months ago, I ventured into the world of essential oils. I ordered a starter kit from Young Living, and have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the oils and all that they can do.

One of my favorite things has been incorporating the oils into my skincare routine. I've used lemon and lime essential oils in my DIY Makeup Remover - Lemon is considered to be a good astringent, and lime is said to remove dead skin cells.*

*(Please note, I'm not a dermatologist or anything, so anything I say is from my own research and information available online.)

I've also recently gotten addicted to facial mists - they're quick, refreshing, and kind of fun! And since I'm trying to use my oils and natural ingredients as much as possible, I decided to try to make my own face mist. I've made a couple different blends, but this is probably my favorite one so far. I typically use it twice a day (morning and night).



You will need:
- Witch Hazel
- Peppermint essential oil
- Lemon essential oil
-Small spray bottle

Note on the spray bottle: Glass is generally best for essential oils, but according to what I've read, certain plastics are okay. Just make sure you do your homework on what you're buying! :)

Witch hazel is a good natural toner (I've used it for months in that capacity, and LOVE it), lemon, as mentioned above, is a good astringent and peppermint is a good antibacterial, as well as being cooling/refreshing on your skin.
(I've even found that peppermint is a good acne spot treatment, but that's a story for another time...)

Let's get started!



First, add the essential oils to the spray bottle. I used about 8-10 drops of each oil for this mix. You can use more or less depending on your personal tastes. Peppermint oil can be pretty intense, so you may prefer to use less.

 Once you've added the oils, fill the bottle the rest of the way with witch hazel.

Don't overfill! Make sure you leave enough room for the lid and pump! 
(I forgot this the first time I made the spray. Oops?)

Shake it well to combine everything...and you're DONE.
Wasn't that amazingly easy? 
(Be sure to give the bottle a good shake before each use, too!)

 
And that's it! Now you have your very own refreshing face mist, made with just THREE ingredients! 
Now spritz it on your face (close your eyes!!), and enjoy!

Bofur Inspired Hat Pattern
